The Chavez family is dedicated to preserving the natural resources of this 12,000 acre ranch. It is considered one of the few privately owned wildlife sanctuaries in the southwest. It is a pristine ranch preserve!
The western views from this magnificent ranch take in the southern Jemez Mountains and Sandia Peak. The eastern views run right to the top of the nearby Ortiz Mountains.
Sheep and Bison are the primary animals being raised on the ranch for sale.
Brief History
The Ortiz Mountain Ranch was the
former name of this magnificent property. This historic ranch
was previously owned by the famous Ball Family, known for their
glass jars.
Location
The Ranch encompasses the west face of the Ortiz Mountains, is
located approximately 20 miles south of Santa Fe, New Mexico on
Highway 14 (the well known Turquoise Trail, a National Scenic
ByWay; Also to the north are the historic towns of Madrid and
Cerrillos. Thirty miles south is the Sandia Peak Ski Area and
Interstate 40 which provides access to Albuquerque.
